No seriously, you’ll be with this exact same gun for the rest of your time in Tekong. Carrying it from weapon drills to outfield to route marches to live firing and so on.
Rifle Cleaning
Since this is your wife now, you’ll be expected to keep it in good condition and so cleaning is essential, especially after events such as outfield where your gun will be scratched up and dirty. The key areas emphasised in BMT rifle cleaning sessions are the gas regulator, the barrel and the bolt carrier group.
Keeping the Rifle safe
When going out for activities that do not involve using your weapon, remember to lock your rifle in your locker. When sitting down, always point the rifle upwards with the ejector port facing away from you. During field camp nights, you can experiment with different ways of securing the rifle. The most common tactics are:
- Placing your arm/leg over your rifle
- Hugging your rifle
